Page Ranch

Information Sheet

The University of Arizona (UA) placed radioactive waste in the Page-Trowbridge Ranch (now called the Oracle Agricultural Center) Landfill from 1962 to 1986. This University-owned facility was used for disposal of radioactive and hazardous waste produced from University research activities.

The facility closed in 1986 and is now in Post-Closure status with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ). Research Laboratory & Safety Services coordinates environmental monitoring with UA Risk Management & Safety under an ADEQ Post-Closure Permit. The site is maintained under the University's broad scope radioactive material license issued by the Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency.
