Hazardous Chemical Waste

Hazardous Waste Disposal

The proper disposal of hazardous chemicals is necessary to prevent chemical exposure, unplanned reactions, and to allow for cost-effective disposal. Risk Management Services is responsible for the removal of hazardous chemical waste from laboratories and for ensuring the proper transport, packaging and disposal of said waste.

The Approval Holder/Approval Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring hazardous chemical waste is properly managed in the laboratory prior to collection. This responsibility includes proper segregation and identification of waste.

Risk Management Services provide varying degrees of waste collection services for laboratories at satellite locations, depending on proximity to Tucson and availability of outside contractors. Contact your research laboratory facilitator or building manager for further information on waste disposal practices at your satellite location.
