The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) Program oversees the University’s animal care and use program, ensuring the appropriate care, use, and humane treatment of animals used for research, testing, and teaching.
The IACUC is responsible for reviewing and approving requests to use live vertebrate animals, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
The IACUC performs inspections of all areas where animals are housed and used, and oversees training and educational programs. It also serves as a resource to investigators, research staff, students, and administrators, providing guidance in the planning and conduct of all animal activities, ensuring the highest scientific, humane, and ethical principles.
