Research Development Services (RDS) at the University of Arizona (UA) is an integral part of the suite of research services provided by Research, Discovery & Innovation.
Our mission is to help UA researchers and scholars identify funding opportunities, form effective teams, and craft winning proposals, with the ultimate goal of increasing the quality and quantity of externally-funded research and scholarly activity at UA.
Notification of Funding Opportunities – We collect and disseminate information on funding opportunities and the funding landscape, to help investigators identify internal and extramural funding opportunities. This includes:
- Weekly Digest, distributed via email, which includes research related events, limited submission opportunities, other opportunities, and a featured honorific. We strive to provide at least one funding opportunity in the broad categories of Arts & Humanities, Biomedical & Life Sciences, Computer & Information Sciences, Education, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences.
- Access to and training for Pivot™, a comprehensive funding database with customizable funding searches and alerts.
- Announcements of limited submissions, for those calls that limit the number of proposals that UA may submit. More information is on the Limited Submission Calendar.
Collaboration and Expertise – The UA Experts (Pure) website helps investigators identify colleagues across UA and at other institutions with specific expertise for potential collaboration and proposal development. We can also help link investigators with units and resources on campus with specific expertise and capabilities. Learn more.
Proposal Development – We provide consultation services to individual principal investigators, and partner with investigator teams to facilitate proposal preparation, regardless of size. We excell in the preparation of large, complex interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research projects. On a time-available basis, RDS can assist with initial strategy development, proposal management plans, technical writing, editing, and proofreading.
Training – Research-related training for faculty, students and staff is provided across UA by Research, Discovery & Innovation. RDS is organizing and sponsoring campus workshops and seminars on topics such as: successful/winning grant writing techniques, the NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER), and NIH New and Early Stage Investigator Programs.
