Overview

The NIH Research Grants (R series) comprise the largest category of funding by many of the NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs). 

Schedule for the 2017-2018 Academic Year

  • September 13, 2017: Introduction to R Series & Recipients Panel (In-Person Workshop)
    This session provided an overview of some different R mechanisms (R01, R03, R15, and R21) including details on eligibility, size and duration of the awards, and participating ICs and featured a panel of recent UA recipients of each mechanism. This session was open to anyone with an interest in R mechanisms with a special emphasis on early career faculty. Slides are available in UA Box.
  • October 11, 2017: Rigor & Reproducibility, the Specific Aims page, and the Introduction to a Resubmission (In-Person Workshop)
    This workshop provided an overview of the NIH Rigor and Reproducibility requirement and how to successfully craft your application to best address the individual components. In addition, the session covered strategies for developing a compelling Specific Aims page and approaches to being responsive to reviewer comments in resubmissions, including communicating and working with your NIH Program Officer. This workshop was targeted to faculty and researchers at all levels. Slides area available in UA Box
  • March 21, 2018: NIH Funding Mechanisms and Rigor & Reproducibility (Webinar)
    This webinar provides an overview of various NIH funding mechanisms, including strategies on best fit, in addition to a review of the Rigor & Reproducibility requirements. Attendees interested in NIH funding should plan to attend. Slides  and a recording  of the webinar are available in UA Box.
